Former Swizzle Gallery owner Rob Elliott returns to Toronto with a suite of sinister little paintings, the product of a winter snowbound in his Kincardine studio with a stack of Victorian children's books and art history tomes.

With Petits Mals (a neurology term for "short-term seizure"), Elliott applies his mid-century pop illustration style to figures inspired by the judgement paintings of Bruegel the Elder and the Grimm Brothers' fairy tales, figures that are both amusing and unsettling. A daily regimen of sketching has served this show well, and many of the 20 small pieces on offer emerging directly from those inky pages.

Custom purses Elliott created with fashion designer Guy LaTulippe will also be on display.
